Royal Ballet Dance School - Where Dreams Come True

Tap Dancing

Tap dancing is a vibrant and rhythmic art form where dancers use their feet as musical instruments. With metal tap plates attached to the shoes, each step becomes a beat, creating intricate patterns of sound that blend movement and music into one dynamic performance.

Known for its energy, precision, and creativity, tap dance builds strong musicality, coordination, and timing. Dancers learn to express themselves through rhythm—ranging from crisp, light footwork to powerful, percussive combinations. Whether performed to jazz, Broadway, contemporary music, or improvisational styles, tap dancing is both exhilarating to perform and captivating to watch.

Perfect for all ages and skill levels, tap offers a fun, expressive way to develop technique, confidence, and a deep sense of rhythm.

Professional singing lessons

Professional singing lessons offer structured, personalized training designed to develop a singer’s vocal technique, confidence, and artistic expression. Guided by expert instructors, students learn proper breath control, pitch accuracy, vocal placement, and healthy singing habits that protect and strengthen the voice over time.

Each lesson is adapted to the student’s goals—whether preparing for performances, auditions, examinations, or simply improving vocal ability. Through vocal warm-ups, repertoire coaching, and performance techniques, singers gain a deeper understanding of their unique voice and how to use it with power, clarity, and emotion.

Professional training not only enhances vocal skills but also builds stage presence, musical interpretation, and overall artistry, helping students become versatile, confident performers.

Ballet

Ballet is a timeless art form that blends graceful movement, expressive storytelling, and extraordinary athleticism. At RoyalBallet, we celebrate this tradition by bringing together refined technique, emotional depth, and artistic excellence. Through precise choreography, powerful music, and stunning performance, ballet captures the beauty of human expression in its purest form.

From classical masterpieces to contemporary creations, our mission is to honor ballet’s rich heritage while inspiring new generations of dancers and audiences. Every performance is an invitation to experience elegance, passion, and the transformative power of the arts.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a fluid, expressive art form that blends elements of modern, ballet, and improvisational movement. Known for its creativity and emotional depth, contemporary encourages dancers to explore freedom, versatility, and personal expression. Rather than following strict rules, it focuses on natural movement, connection to the floor, and the use of breath, momentum, and dynamic energy.

Dancers learn to tell stories through movement—using sharp lines, soft transitions, grounded techniques, and sweeping gestures that reflect both strength and vulnerability. Contemporary choreography ranges from abstract to narrative, allowing each performer to discover their unique artistic voice.

Innovative, emotive, and endlessly adaptable, contemporary dance invites students to move beyond technique and explore the art of expression.

Modern

Modern dance is a broad, expressive style of movement that emerged in the early 20th century as a reaction against the rigid rules of classical ballet. It emphasizes freedom, individuality, and emotional authenticity rather than strict technique or codified steps.

Acting & Musical Theatre

An acting and musical theatre class combines the core elements of acting, singing, and movement to train performers in the skills needed for stage performance—especially in musicals where all three blend into storytelling. While each program differs, most classes share several defining features:

1. Acting Training

  • Character development: Students learn to analyse scripts, understand motivations, and create believable characters.

  • Improvisation: Exercises help build spontaneity, creativity, and confidence.

  • Scene study: Partners rehearse and perform scenes to practice emotional truth, timing, and interaction.

  • Voice and diction: Training focuses on clear speech, projection, and expressive delivery.

2. Musical Theatre Singing

  • Vocal technique: Breath support, healthy belting, head voice, resonance, and stylistic versatility.

  • Interpretation: Students learn to “act the song,” blending vocal choices with character and emotion.

  • Repertoire building: Learning songs from various eras—Golden Age, contemporary, pop/rock, etc.

3. Movement and Dance

  • Musical theatre dance styles: Jazz, ballet fundamentals, and stylized movement depending on repertoire (e.g., Fosse, Broadway jazz).

  • Choreography: Students learn and perform short combinations or full numbers.

  • Physical storytelling: Using the body to communicate emotion, intention, and rhythm.

4. Ensemble Skills

  • Collaboration: Musical theatre is highly team-based; classes emphasize working harmoniously within a group.

  • Listening and reacting: Students practice responding authentically to fellow performers.

  • Stage presence: Building confidence, awareness, and energy for live performance.

5. Performance & Feedback

  • Showings or showcases: Students often perform scenes, monologues, or musical numbers for critique or audiences.

  • Constructive feedback: Instructors help refine technique, emotional specificity, and overall performance quality.

Overall Experience

An acting and musical theatre class is energetic, creative, and immersive. It challenges students to blend technical skills with emotional honesty, develop their artistic identity, and gain the versatility needed for the musical theatre stage.
